Affiliates offer their specialized skills to any other member, providing a marketplace forskills which can generate income not otherwise available in their local market. With that income comes concrete value for the balalance sheet of the local affiliate.
The National Architect Corporation has been formed to serve as the small practices' "partner without politics". The Affiliate shapes the set of services and support which it needs for its own unique character. The National Architect believes in the critical importance of the independent, small design firm to the functioning of this democracy and the efficiency of its capital markets.
Large firms by their nature cannot provide the proper risk learning, risk assessment, and uncompromising decisionmaking and leadership environment which is the nature of the small practice. The building industry very much needs a formal platform for talent spawning from large firms, departing due to downsizing, or in a pre-licensing, independently owned business. These situations are where industry innovation thrives, providing high impact to local communities.
